Top sports and entertainment agents visit campus

"Two talent agents of the world’s top agency for sports and entertainment spoke to Point Park students about their experiences representing major league athletes.

The Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing hosted Creative Artists Agency (CAA) sports television and marketing agents David Koonin and Matt Kramer in Student Center 701 on Feb. 22, where they shared their day-to-day duties with their clientele.

CAA consists of four departments: motion picture, sports, television and music. Within the departments, agents represent talent, brand, property, and owners in the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, FIFA, UFC and Broadcasting.

The agency represents several Pittsburgh athletes including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin. T.J. Watt, Ryan Shazier and Bud Dupree. The duo also shared advice with students on how to get their foot in the sports industry.

Specialty Cupid's Choice Donuts Has Students Feeling The Love

Getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit, Dunkin Donuts has released a limited run of seven specialty Cupid’s Choice Donuts. The promotion, which runs from which runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 14, has doughnut enthusiasts getting into the holiday spirit.

Stopping at the Market Square location before a class or a study session for a quick sugar fix, the Cupid’s Choice Donuts hits the spot, according to freshman Alexis Slavicek.

Shields developing into one of nation's top runners after successful weekend

Cross country standout Anna Shields can be described in three words.

“Dedicated. Confident. Caring,” teammates Katie Guarnaccia and McKenzie Wilson said.

Shields broke a school record this year in the women’s 5K at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship by 8 seconds and finished 60th in a race of 344 runners.

A Torrington, Co. native, Shields joined the cross-country team when she was in 6th grade because she had just moved schools and thought it would be a good way to meet friends.

Cross-country teams aim to reclaim conference titles

Point Park’s men’s and women’s cross-country teams are looking forward to their season, with coach Kelly Parsley heading the quest to build up these two unique, strong teams.

“This is our quest to Charlotte 2.0,” Parsley said.

Both the men’s and women’s teams look to defend their KIAC Championship against their top rival, the University of Rio Grande. Each team has their own obstacles they plan to overcome.
